Wild mushrooms are The Best! but we were lamenting the fact that neither of us paid much attention when our Mama's were picking them...now we wonder
how do u tell for sure if the mushrooms u find growing in the woods are
safe to eat...esp. since we've moved several counties away from where Mama
used to pick them.

My great-grandmother used to drop a silver dollar into the mushrooms while cooking. If it blackened, they were no good...but I don't ever remember it blackening! Can you imagine?
